Prof. Sukhdev Singh Sohal, former Professor and Head, Department of History spoke on the topic Revisiting India’s Freedom Struggle ( 1905-1947). Prof. Sohal started with the importance of 12 March as it was on this day Mahatma Gandhi had started Dandi March in 1930. He also spoke on the significance of national flag. During these 75 weeks Indians would revisit India’s struggle for independence. E.H. Carr, Prof. Sohal said reminds us that History is an unending dialogue between present and past, but History is also about remembering and forgetting. We remember certain things and forget certain things. On the day of independence, we should also remember partition of Punjab and Bengal. These are the paradoxes of History. We should not forget that independence and partition went hand in hand. Along with celebrations we must remember those who suffered during partition. The webinar was organized by Dr. AmandeepBal, Professor & Head and Dr. HarneetKaur , Assistant Professor, Department of History, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
