International Webinar on the theme Changing Higher Education Scenario in Post- Covid Times organized
Amritsar , November 20, 2020: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Guru Nanak Dev University in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre of the University organised an International Webinar on the theme “Changing Higher Education Scenario in Post- Covid Times”. With experts of undisputable experience and prowess in higher education and its policy making, the webinar aimed to enlighten the participant institutes and educationists on the changing paradigms in higher education and winning strategies for building sustainable, peaceful and growing economies in the post-COVID times.
The webinar opened with the Presidential address by the Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean, Academic Affairs, who inspired the teaching community to embrace the challenges in higher education by imbibing blended learning mode and prepare for better future of education. Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Director, HRDC and Prof. Ashwani Luthra, Director, IQAC shared their words of wisdom highlighting the present pandemic times and the associated challenges.
The technical session had experts from India and abroad who shared their expertise and experiences to have a winning edge as stakeholders amidst the present challenging times. Dr. Jagannath Patil, Adviser NAAC apprised the audience with the facts and statistics related to education system of India in COVID times and the initiatives being taken by NAAC as facilitators for furthering the cause of quality education in current times.
Mr. Hirsilä Matti from Jamk University of Applied Sciences, Finland shared the feedback, surveys and reality check points of learners of Finland and helped the audiences understand the strategy to wage a winning battle against pandemic situation. Dr. Rekha Koul from Curtin University, Australia raised pertinent issues relating to “what needs to fit in” and what needs to be withdrawn awakening the educators to comprehend the problems of education system precisely and take remedial and timely actions. Prof. Amit Kauts, Department of Education of the University was the final speaker of the Technical Session who averred on the need to adopt blended learning system and imbibe right lessons at right time.
As many as 300 registered candidates who were presented an opportunity to reflect on the issues which the education system is embattling with and charter their roads to growth and progress. The webinar ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rekha Handa, Coordinator of the webinar and Additional Director, IQAC who acknowledged the efforts of all and culminated the International Webinar with hopes of constructive inputs for all.
